Filipinos are pet lovers by and large. Almost every family has or has had a dog, a cat, a fish, or a bird at one point or another. And because luxury pet care among a lot of things is steadily becoming more and more popular, so are pet-friendly house designs in the Philippines. What exactly are some things that constitute a pet-friendly house design? Here are some ideas to get you started.
Stain Resistant Materials
We start off the list with any pet’s make or break factor: cleanup. Because of the consideration that pets will leave droppings, some very excited and willing fur parents tend to think twice because their house does not seem cut out for extra cleanup. Pet-friendly design integration includes using stain resistant material for your furniture but also to wear droppings always fall—your floor. Laminated hardwood, porcelain, and ceramic are some of your best and easy to clean choices.
Raised or Doored Shelves
Here’s another design consideration that would not be a problem for pet-lovers with just some forethought. If you want pets to bless your house, metion to your architect house designs that have elevated surfaces. In the Philippines, we like having surfaces that are waist level so if a shelf or storage unit cannot be elevated, discuss putting doors behind them, like a mini closet.
Pet Bath
Of course, because cleanup is a concern, an area where your pet can get hosed down to their delight would be nice. This area will preferably have it’s own water source to help with bathing your pet and also for washing out their urine. Other people would just designate the garage for this purpose but you could go a step further and have a dedicated pet bath area.
Open Space
Lastly, it’s very important that your pet has a play area which would be a room at least and a backyard at best. A pet friendly house design in the Philippines must have an area where pets can run around and play freely without chains on. Beloved pets should not be leashed or caged 27/4; giving them a safe space to play keeps them healthy and happy.
For some Filipinos, a furry companion is a good practice for having a kid, for others, they are loyal guardians of a household but regardless of reason, every pet deserve a loving home where they can be happy, healthy, and safe.
